Faith Formation FAQ’s

Is Faith Formation CCD?
Simply put – YES!!!

Who should register?
Elementary Faith Formation is for all kids from kindergarten through 5th grade.

My child was in Faith Formation last year. Do I need to register them again?
Yes! We have an annual registration for Faith Formation. We know that schedules and circumstances change, so we start fresh each year. Registration is quick and easy!

My child has already received their 1st Communion. Should they still attend Faith Formation?
Yes!!! We believe that no one should ever stop learning their faith!  At St. Francis, we offer Faith Formation from kindergarten through adulthood.
We want to see them return to Faith Formation year after year to continue to be catechized at a level appropriate for their age, understanding, and life experiences.

When is Faith Formation offered?
Elementary Faith Formation is offered on Sundays at 10 am and Tuesdays at 4:30 pm, and we have the option of doing Faith Formation at Home on your own schedule.
We begin the Sunday after Labor Day, and we end the week before Mother’s Day.

My child needs to make their 1st Communion. What do I need to do?
The first step – register them for Faith Formation! Sacrament Preparation for Reconciliation (Confession) and Communion is available for children who are in the second grade or higher
and in at least their second year of Faith Formation. Sacrament prep is a separate curriculum and is in addition to their grade level Faith Formation.

We travel a lot and might miss a few Sunday classes. Is that a problem?
NO, not a problem at all! Our attendance policy is really forgiving. If your child misses a class just request the work that they missed from their catechist when they return to class. Help your child to complete that lesson at home and once the work is returned the absence is cleared. It’s pretty simple!

I might be interested in helping, but I’m not sure I have time to be a catechist.
Being a catechist is a wonderful experience in your faith and not as big of a commitment as you might think. All catechists have a partner to help share the responsibility.
Plan to spend about 1.5 hours a week planning and 1.5 hours for class (you know, arriving early and staying a little late). Miriam is here to help all along the way!

I have older children. Can I register them?
We will once again offer Middle School on Sundays at 10:00 am and Tuesdays at 7:00 pm, and Life Teen will continue to be on Sunday evenings after the 5:00 pm Mass.
