Parish Survey Report from Peter Scherer

During the past year, Scherer Communications conducted a series of surveys to assess the state of the St. Francis of Assisi community. Families were invited to answer two survey questions. The first one asked the participants to rate the likelihood of them to recommend St. Francis of Assisi to a friend or colleague, using a scale from 1 to 10. The second question asked for clarification regarding this rating.

The most recent survey was sent to 223 recipients in the St. Francis community. 89 responded with feedback resulting in a response rate of 39 percent. Although this might seem like a small number, in the world of statistics this level of response is quite phenomenal. 85 percent of collected responses were rated positive, with scores in the 9s and 10s. Promoter IO, the program used to conduct and analyze the survey, classifies this group as “promoters”. Many of these responders spoke highly of St. Francis’ sense of community. Other particular strong points include friendliness, ministry involvement, liturgy, and the staff. 11 percent of collected responses were rated ‘passive’, with scores in the 7s and 8s. These respondents followed similar trends to promoters. Finally, 4 percent of responses were classified as detractors. Scores in this small group include any rating below 7. A trend analysis of this feedback indicates that environment was an area of concern for those in this group. Others addressed issues concerning the Eucharist and the sermons.

In closing, the survey suggests that St. Francis of Assisi is a parish that excels on being a community of believers, supported by friendliness and service to others. We hope to continue this trend of warmth and fellowship. St. Francis of Assisi would like to express gratitude to everyone who took part in this process. Together we can continue building a great parish community.
