To Celebrate a Life of Love: Charles Barleman Guzman

June 25, 1929-May 9, 2022

SMS Charles Barleman Guzman, retired USAF, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2022, at the age of 92. During his career in the Air Force, he served in Japan, Korea, the Philippines, and Spain.

He was awarded the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal as well as the Air Force Defense Medal. He was very proud to have served his country.

Charles worked at Kelly Air Force Base as a logistics management specialist where he retired in 1983. Charles loved to walk and jog around his neighborhood with his dog and sing and play the guitar. He did volunteer work at Brooks AFB, Lackland AFB, St. Paul Catholic Church, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, and Oasis. Charles was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Nocturnal Adoration Society.

He is survived by one brother, Albert Barleman Guzman, and sister-in-law Mary Louise; nieces, Patricia Guzman and Lisa A. Ybarra her husband, Eddie; nephew, Mark A. Guzman and his wife, Melissa. In addition, he is survived by great-nieces, Lauren Fabac with her husband, Collin, and Lianna Ybarra; and great-nephews, Jacob Ybarra, Alexander Guzman, and Anthony Guzman; as well as his sweet schnauzer Kellie.

The family will receive friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Central Catholic High School Chapel, Kahlig-Cowie Convocation Center.
