Fr. Stephen (Steve) Austin | Parochial Vicar
I am grateful for the opportunity to minister in the Community of St. Francis of Assisi. I recently retired after 40 years of service in the Diocese of Tulsa, OK., but I am not finished ministering. My time as a pastor was mostly in rural parishes.
I was given a sabbatical twenty years ago and attended Oblate School of Theology’s sabbatical program for one semester. I remained at Oblate for a second semester, where I received tutoring in Spanish. I greatly enjoyed and benefited from that year in San Antonio.
I was born and raised in Guthrie, Oklahoma. My Father and Mother have both entered eternal life. I am the number four of five children in our family. I attended St. Mary’s Grade School through the 8th Grade and then went to public school. After a bit of wandering in college, I finished my undergraduate work at Conception Seminary College in Conception, Mo. I received my master’s in divinity from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN., in 1984
