John Scarpino

John Herbert Scarpino, much loved son, brother, cousin, friend and uncle, departed this life on July 25, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 61.

John was born on February 19, 1963 in San Antonio, Texas to Theodore and Blanche Scarpino He graduated from Clark High School, 1981. He spent a year studying at St. Mary University before transferring to UT at Austin where he graduated with a BBA in Finance in 1985. He attended law school at UT at Austin and graduated in 1988. He went on to practice law in Las Vegas, Nevada, Long Beach, San Jose, and San Francisco, California. He spent most of his career with an emphasis on employment law where he dedicated his time to helping the under represented employee against the large corporations. He left his practice due to failing health and to be of more assistance to his elderly parents who lived nearby in Fremont, California at that time.

John was fortunate to live and work most of his adult life in the beautiful city of San Francisco, the city he loved. He spoke often and enthusiastically about San Francisco’s history, parks, museums, opera, and food. He loved giving us tours whenever we visited and of course he was a big Giants and 49ers fan. John was a favorite among his nieces and nephews. He always engaged with them, made them laugh, encouraged, and supported them.

John was an avid reader and always had a book in hand. He loved music, opera and was a movie enthusiast. He enjoyed cooking and baking and after his mother passed away he would try to duplicate her recipes to make things more like it used to be. He was full of life, fun-loving and always up for an adventure. He was very intelligent, but never pretentious or condescending. He was kind-hearted, quick to make others feel at ease and important. He loved life and always tried to make the most of it for himself and others.

John was a loving, compassionate soul who always considered the needs of others. Now that he is gone, there is an emptiness. He passed too soon and will be greatly missed. May our Lord grant unto him eternal rest and may His perpetual light shine upon him.
