Ronald James Grabinger, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on August 21, 1951, to parents Margaret Budzisz and Elmer Grabinger in Chicago, Illinois. He loved working on cars and expanded his knowledge as a mechanic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. After his discharge in 1972 he used the experience, he had gained to work as a BMW mechanic for a brief time before joining Subaru, a newcomer to the U.S. market. He went on to work for Subaru of America as a Regional Service Manager and eventually retired after over 30 years of service. In retirement he continued to stay up to date on trends in the automotive industry and always had a shiny new Subaru in the garage. He enjoyed watching the news and was knowledgeable about current events and liked engaging in political dialog. His hobbies included golfing, caring for his pups, and more recently cruising with his children and grandchildren. As a father he was always the voice of reason. As a loving husband he was a great provider and tremendous caregiver. As a grandpa he was patient, affectionate and giving. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife Myrna L. Grabinger. He is survived by his children, Sylvia Yvette Grabinger, Keith Grabinger and wife Betsy, and Trisha Grabinger; grandchildren, Lauren Silva, Jeremy Cantu, Amy Cantu, Hudson Grabinger, Grayson Grabinger, Madeline Twyman and Margaret Twyman; sister Donna Jones and brother Edward Grabinger.
